El Rancho – REVIEW
By: Pearl Maalouf BS, FMSC, CPT, CF-L1
Speaking of leading an active life…we got to check out and experience various activities at El Rancho! It was a little bit of Texas in the middle of…well, the middle east. Located in Ghodras, Lebanon- about 10 minutes from Jounieh- it’s surrounded by trees and wilderness with an amazing view of the valley and sea below!
There was a mechanical bull, horseback riding, and paintball…but we wanted to try some UN-traditional activities that we hadn’t done before. The picture above was one of their Extreme activities called a “Monkey Bridge”. You’re quite high up in the air walking around suspended on a little rope…which shakes, A LOT. My arms were sore from holding on so tightly! But what a RUSH and unparalleled views of nature. Be sure to bring your phone (tie it to your wrist first) to take a few pictures. 🙂
We also go to work on our hand-eye coordination with some target practice…although it was our first time handling a bow! I’m proud to tell you all that I got a bulls-eye on my second shot! 😛 Can’t say the same for Robert though hehe. I totally felt like Katniss from the Hunger Games #loveher
Next up on our adventures was rappelling. This was TOUGH both mentally and physically! I mean you’re pretty much just thinking to yourself “I was perfectly happy walking on solid ground….why did I agree to getting strapped to these ropes and climbing over the side of this cliff????” The first few minutes felt like hours and I was really stressed out. Once I realized that I could trust the rope (and the guide directing me) then I relaxed, looked around at the view (while hanging on to the rope), and felt really proud of myself! Robert went after me and although he admitted that it was challenging (he says you should bring gloves if you plan to do it) he loved it! We can’t wait to do it off an even higher cliff 😉 If you want to check out El Rancho for yourself visit their website and let them know you found out about them from Le Gym Online!
