As I’ve said here and here there are lots of different ways to stay healthy when you travel. Luckily in Europe there are lots of great places to eat. Robert and I went to Belgium to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary just two weeks ago. Naturally beforehand I was researching where we could get a healthy meal when we were in Brussels. What I found was a restaurant named Moonfood which sounded great just by their description…but when we went there they surpassed our expectations. The restaurant is a spacious, self-service (buffet style) vegan heaven with a raw section and a hot dish section. Their located very close to the central station and Mark’s Place making it very accessible to locals and tourists alike.
The owner Thierry, is very passionate about the current state of food and health of the general population. He has trained in the US with Anni Jubb and Gisela Byer to learn the fine art of raw “cooking”. And his creations are truly magnificent. Moonfood is a great affordable- and fast – option to get amazing vegan food packed full of amazing nutrients.
At Moonfood they have two areas – one featuring all raw vegan dishes and the other side features hot vegan dishes. Both styles of food are amazing and will satisfy you for hours! IF you haven’t tried vegan food before you will be pleasantly surprised, as the dishes are rich with flavor and textures you wouldn’t expect from vegetables, nuts, seeds and legumes. Even the water served at Moonfood is filter 9 times with a reverse osmosis system.

Spinach and Carrot Salad with sweet onions and dried mushrooms
Last but not least, and of course my favorite item: RAW Tiramisu. Made with dates, coconut oil, vanilla, salt, almonds, coconut meat, coconut milk, cashew, tamari, lecithine, coconut cream, and raw cacao.
