Everyone’s fitness goals are different. Some look to shed excessive weight, some to bulk up while others are looking to build lean muscle mass. Whatever your fitness goal is you have to fuel your body right. Which means eating whole foods and ensuring that you are eating enough protein to help build up that lean muscle mass. Nutrition is 80% of any fitness plan. You can hit the gym for two hours every day but if your nutrition is not in sync you simply will not acquire your desired results.
In order to pack in the protein and whole food nutrition, I make a protein smoothie every morning for breakfast. As you can imagine having a smoothie every morning can get a bit monotonous. So it is important to experiment with different produce help keep you on track with your nutritional goals. Spinach is a great leafy green to add to any smoothie, it has a mild flavor, is a very nutrient dense food and it is low in calories yet high in vitamins and minerals.
Everyone is strapped for time nowadays, especially in the mornings. Which can make it easy to just grab and go with something that is not so nutritious. It is really so simple to throw this smoothie together in the mornings, literally in five minutes. Plus it provides the protein and nutrients you need to jumpstart your day with no processed sugar. Processed sugar is nutrition sabotage.
I like to say that my smoothie recipes are protein agnostic. Any protein powder will work and still taste fantastic. With so many protein products out on the market, it can be a daunting task to find the right one to suit your nutritional needs. So when you finally find your favorite, stick with it.
A frequent ingredient in my smoothie recipes is Coconut oil. Coconut Oil contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight and boosts your immune system. However, in cold smoothies extra virgin coconut oil can be a bit chunky, so I highly suggest using fractionated coconut oil.
This smoothie is by far my new favorite and by adding avocado to it gives it a rich creamy consistency.
Here’s to your health!
