Woodbees – REVIEW

By: Pearl Maalouf BS, FMSC, CPT, CF-L1

If you’ve ever driven in Zalka then chances are that you’ve seen Woodbees! Their location is right off the highway – next to Wooden Bakery – and they have an amazing design from the outside. Wood

I picked three items off their menu and asked them about their ingredients and cooking process. All of their employees were really patient in answering my questions! 🙂 I learned that they don’t use any mayo in their sauces and make their breads fresh every morning! Their breads are a specialty by Wooden Bakery made with low sodium, no sugar added and high in fiber. They also offer a gluten free bread as well! Their grilling mechanism is a special patented invention that uses a conveyor system, ensuring even and uniform cooking.

The first salad I tried was the “Quinoa Salad” with a very generous serving of quinoa…it was seriously a LOT! It came topped with grilled halloumi, dried cranberries, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, mint and mixed greens. This was served with a Dijon lemon dressing on the side. Serving the dressings on the side is really great because you can control how much dressing you pour. I only used a bit of dressing so I could really enjoy the natural flavors of the salad.

The second salad I tried was the “Woodbees Salad” with super tasty goat cheese, mixed greens, and generous servings of roasted almonds and hazelnuts! Again the dressing, a special Woodbees dressing, was served on the side.

The last and my personal FAVORITE dish I tried was the Prosciutto Brie sandwich. Seriously every item in this sandwich is my favorite thing to eat individually, and Woodbees put them all together. As you can tell from the name this sandwich has prosciutto and slices of brie cheese, it also has grilled asparagus and a blueberry compote. All of the contrasting sweet and salty flavors came together quite beautifully! This is a sandwich that I would personally go back for again and again!

All of their ingredients were very fresh and tasty and the portions were very good. Pricing for everything I tried were within 12,000LL to 14,000LL! If you’re looking for place to meet up with friends and get something fresh and tasty this is definitely the next place you should visit! Now I just need to convince Woodbees to make a loyalty card because I have a feeling I will be eating a lot of Prosciutto Brie sandwiches 🙂 Check them out on Facebook or give them a call at 01 88 66 00 for more information!

  1. I tried the Prosciutto Brie sandwich too, it was delicious! Apart from that though, it’s a cute place but not thaaat special. If you go during the day, the sun is very annoying (it’s a little thing that can be overlooked, but it made me want to leave asap). 🙂

    • Hi Aline, Glad to find another sandwich lover 🙂

I wanted to focus on the healthiest options they had and three items that we featured certainly are great dishes that fit into that category! For casual/fast food it’s certainly comparable to others restaurants in the same category 🙂

When I was there (early afternoon) I had the same issue with the sun, but the waiters lowered the automatic shade and it was fine!
